Cup-A-Cake Road Tested

Isn’t it always the case that you make a plan to photoblog/vlog/blog something you think is *amusing* and then some arsehole on the interweb goes and does it first? Well, in this particular hour, on this particular day, I’ve got daggers for notmartha, some fancy-pants blogger in Seattle. She’s gone and trial tested Cup-A-Cake — the food blogger’s de riguer equivalent to the George Foreman Grill, Ronco Rotissiere, Ginzu Knives or the Pocket Fisherman.

If you missed the initial round on this particular piece of web ephemera, the Cup-A-Cake has a Thigh-Master-false-promise ring to it, i.e.:
“This unique container will hold a frosted cupcake in place with protrusions positioned in such a way that the cupcake will not move within the container if bounced, jiggled, or turned upside down.”

So, silly me, inspired by the breathtaking beauty of 7-How-7’s muffin pan, I devised a master plan to throw my car in reverse over a Cup-A-Cake container.

Forget it now, since notmartha has pretty much beat me to it:

I put a cupcake with the sticky marshmallow frosting in one and threw it in my bag, upside down. Over the course of the day I dug through my bag for keys and my phone, the bag was tossed onto couches, floors, and the back of my car. For good measure we played catch with the unopened container and even kicked it about a little (we were sort of giddy from hunger). It was even accidentally dropped onto a hard tile kitchen floor. The cupcake emerged with a few crumbs on it but otherwise completely intact, I’m very pleased. The plastic is a nice heavy weight and there is plenty of room for mounds of frosting. Of course, I’ll have to do more testing with many more cupcakes.

So what do we know from this experiment?
A. Cup-A-Cake works!
B. notmartha saved me a little gas and some space on my CF card

For that, and only that, I thank her.
