WiFiVi (n.) — The act or instance of a public wireless device violation. The inexcusably inconsiderate use of a mobile device in a crowded area.

Nobody has to inform any of us that L.A. is ground zero for rude cellphone behavior. The result of the ubiquitous OpenTable survey suggesting that “85% percent of (OT users) surveyed say cell phones have no place in fine-dining establishments” is no surprise to anyone who’s spent a a few hours in L.A.

Which is why I laughed when I saw this photo; it depicts such a crazy quilt of mobile device violations:

1. Talking loudly on a cellphone in a dining establishment
2. Talking loudly on a cellphone in a dining establishment while pacing, thereby, infringing on numerous dining experiences
3. Talking loudly on a cellphone in public under age 10
4. Moblogging the enfant terrible guilty of all of the above

The one-and-only Vidalia, who shot this bratworst at Urth Cafe on Melrose yesterday, writes:
…it could have only been better if, after he got his drink, he went outside, put sunglasses on and did it on the sidewalk with coffee cup in hand.

Correction: It could only have been better if this kid were locked up in a McDonald’s PlayPlace, for the rest of his days, leaving us polite folk to drink our coffees in peace — the adults in that cafe are bad enough.
