Atwater Village Farmer’s Market to Open June 19

A new Sunday farmer’s market is opening in Atwater Village next month. The Atwater farmer’s market will host 15 farmers, 4-5 food vendors, and a coffee stand in the Wells Fargo parking lot at 3250 Glendale Blvd. An opening day party is scheduled for Sunday, June 19 at 10:00 AM. The market is organized and operated by Sustainable Economic Enterprises of Los Angeles (SEE-LA).

The Atwater farmer’s market will sell fruit, vegetables and selections from a few local organic farmers. Area restaurants are in talks with SEE-LA to provide the market’s prepared food selections.

“We’re working with restaurants in the neighborhood because we’re interested in supporting the community first,” said a SEE-LA spokeswoman. Kaldi Coffee, based in Atwater Village, is talking with SEE-LA about opening a coffee stand, but has not yet confirmed participation.

The opening day celebration is expected to be attended by Councilman Eric Garcetti, Council District 13 members, and Atwater Village’s deputy general. Performances by local bands (indie rock and jazz), a magician, and a children’s dance troop are being arranged by SEE-LA.

For details on Atwater Village businesses in general, there is an excellent Atwater Village Neighborhood Council website, and it hosts an active open neighborhood forum.

More details on the Atwater Village Farmer’s Market are expected to be released by SEE-LA next week.

  1. I can’t tell you how excited I am to hear about a farmer’s market coming to Atwater. As a chef who is looking to open a pizza wine bar in the area. I just need to find a location for sale or lease.

    Again this is great news!!!!

  5. I’m from New York, and you can’t walk out of your front door without tripping over fresh mozzarella and ricotta. Here, even places like Bay Cities in Santa Monica don’t make their own. Stop by its super fresh and really good.
