I got a note from Susan Hutchens letting us know that there is a new Downtown Farmers Market starting up in July. Mark your calendar:

We’re starting a Certified Farmers’ Market downtown at Traction and 3rd. It opens July 16, 2005 and will
operate on Saturdays from 9 a.m. - 2 p.m. year round rain or shine.

Our market will have 15 farmers, 5 non-certified food items andsome prepared food dishes - Groundworks coffee, barbecue, garlic fries, roasted peanuts, organic lemonade, and tamales. Our location is in the heart of the Arts District/Little Tokyo with many great restaurants open on Saturday for lunch. Also on Saturdays, the once-monthly FAB market brings art, food and music to the district .

Groundworks, garlic fries and organic lemonade? That should be great.
