Philip Potempa, reporting for Northwest Indiana News, writes: “The consensus among media types covering the show was that numbers were down and people in the candy industry aren’t so sweet these days in our modern world of carb- and calorie-counting consumers.”
Sanhita Sen, writing for The Chicago Tribune, filed a story that describes the most interesting products by category: the good, the bad and the clever. Good? Too Tart candies that replaced sugar with fruit juice. Bad? Bertie Bott’s Every Flavor Beans in booger, rotten egg and vomit. Clever? Chocpix chocolate photographs that turn 3D in the sunlight.
