Domo Affogato, Mr. Italiano

We’re all way too cool and indie to drink Starbucks coffee, I know. But sometimes it’s fun to peep how the unenlightened sell-out majority lives. Besides, Jim Romenesko’s Starbucks Gossip blog, is a mighty public awareness endeavor — monitoring “America’s favorite addiction.”

Today Romenesko posted a photo from a die-hard SG reader who was trying to figure out what drink the barista actually gave him. The drink is deciphered pretty quickly in the comments once the Sharpie scrawls on the side of the cup are decoded. But then the comments devolve into a threadbare history lesson on the Itralian origins of the affogato espresso. It’s a fun, quick skim, half-caf, no whip.
