More Free Big Business Ice Cream on Saturday
Thursday, June 30, 2005 13:53Cold Stone Creamery is hosting free ice cream tastings of five brand new flavors from 10AM - 12PM on Saturday.
Now I know some of you wise guys are going to say, Yeah, but doesn’t Cold Stone give free samples anyway? Yup, a scrap on a spoon. But on Saturday they’re giving away miniature cups of their brand new flavors: Wasabi Ginger, Fruity Cereal, Black Licorice, Oatmeal Cookie Batter, and Tangerine Sorbet.
Yesterday Starbucks gave away 4oz. containers, the size of elementary school ice creams cups — around 250 calories. On Saturday Cold Stone is giving customers small scoops in cups, about the same size, according to a spokeswoman.
The five flavors will only be around for the month of July and then discontinued. The downhome multi-national ice cream company, quickly becoming the Starbucks of ice cream, has over 1,100 stores around the globe. I believe there is a brand new one in Atwater Village and a bunch more planned around L.A.

Oohhh. I really want to try the “Fruity Cereal” ice cream. Not sure if any of you are familiar with the Hoagie Yogie sandwich-n-frozen yogurt morman restaurant chain, but they used to have Cap’n Crunch that you could mix into your fro-yo–my total favorite, but not something I’ve seen anywhere else–I hope the Fuity Cereal is as good!

They’ve also opened a store in Venice on Washington Blvd. @ Pacific. I have to say that I really don’t like seeing more chains open up in my neighborhood. But, from what I understand at least this one is owned by a local resident.

Cold Stone Creamery recalls Cake Batter products
SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. (July 6) - Cold Stone Creamery, based here, in conjunction with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration issued a voluntary recall of its Cake Batter ice cream products in stores nationwide following reports of salmonella outbreaks in Minnesota, Washington, Oregon and Ohio.
The 1,100-unit chain said customers who have purchased the ice cream and taken it home can return it for a full refund, and that it “is committed to the safety and welfare of our customers, along with providing the highest quality products.”
