Free Slurpee on 7/11

Welcome Slurpee hunters, this post is from 2005, but we have a 2006 Slurpee post. That post also has info on how to get a free Slurpee if your 7-Eleven isn’t participating. For 2007, I give a quick tour of the Kwiki-E-Mart
Today being 7/11 and all, 7-Eleven the store is serving up free Slurpees. Continuing our tradition here of alerting our fine readers to free corporate giveaways, I thought I would let you all know. more info from the 7-11 press release
Slurpees and I have had an up and down relationship. The sugary sweet frozen treat can soothe the summer heat, or overpower my glucose intake valve.
The consistancy of Slurpees are in the middle of the frozen beverage range, with Icees being light and airy, and Slush Puppies having a more granular texture. In general, I prefer either of those over the Slurpee, but we’re not talking gourmet dining here, there is plenty of room for variation.
Finally, if you are going to sidle into 7-Eleven, grab a cup, pre-apply the lid and pull down the handle to squirt the frozen flavor bomb, at least go for the grade school classic. Mix equal parts Coke and Cherry, and fill it to the brim of the domed lid. Take your Spraw (spoon/straw), sit on the curb and drip all over while dying your tongue with the headache inducing Slurpee.
The free Slurpee offer is for a 7.11 ounce cup
[update] This was too good to leave in the comments: This is a website about brainfreeze. I made a movie at a seven eleven where I asked some people to get brainfreeze. They did, and it was awesome!!!. Thanks Why We Type!

The first Slurpees were made in 1959 by freezing them through car air conditioners?

Seems like a good time to remind those who haven’t caught it yet to view this internet classic: http://thebrainfreeze.com/
It’s a home made movie of real people getting their Brain Freeze on.
Gotta run. I’m off to grab my freebie.

Okay. It’s not even fifteen minutes later, and I’m back. (YES I have a job, I just don’t want to do it…)
So I get to my local 7-11, which is empty, save for the crowd of ninth-grade girls sipping Slurpees and critiquing them.
The free Slurpee is a tiny blue Dixie cup with “FREE SLURPEE” written on it, for which there is no lid. I have to search and search to find where the girls got their blue Dixie cups, and after squinting around the cash register, pretending I’m doing something more adult-like, I eventually find one last blue cup tipped over on it’s side, which I have to look into to make sure it’s not somebody’s trash.
I tried one of the new flavors they were promoting, with the appetizing name of “Gully Washer” and found it a refreshing, sparkling, frozen grape juice.
Then I felt like such a dope standing there, I bought a frozen Coke and came home. My wife laughed so hard when I told her all this, I thought instead of going back to work, I’d embarrass myself further by posting it.

About eight years ago they changed the formula for Slurpees and I went from four a week to two a year. That was a painfully disappointing time of my life.

WTF, they’re giving away something the size of a dixie cup? They can go to hell. That’s like promoting pizza and giving out a mini-square that won’t even fit a piece of pepperoni on it.
For shame.

At my local 7-11, the @#*!# coke slurpees are always offline. Always. For my money, the cola varieties are the only ones worth having. Seems I may never have one again, tho.
