Okay, so this technically isn’t about the LA Food Scene. But I am from LA and it was inspired partly by this post from LAFoodblogging.

Recently went camping at Glacier National Park in Montana. For some photos go here (shameless self-promotion!). Anyway, had to decide what kind of food to eat while camping.

Having seen a report on this Trader Joe item and my buddy having actually tried the stuff, it was obviously time to go a little wild while in the wild for dinner!

The meal was re-heated in boiling water on a MSR Simmerlite white gas camping stove with a GSI pot/pan set. The Trader Joe stuff sure beat the bag of freeze dried stuff we also tried! On another evening, we had the Tuna with Yellow Curry from TJ along with a bag of pre-cooked Brown Rice also from TJs.

Hey, just because we are “roughing it” doesn’t mean we can’t enjoy some good food!

Disclaimer: I am not nor have I ever been an employee of Trader Joes! 8-)

The tuna tastes great even unheated, for those who really want to pack light and forgo the stove. Although, then how do you make coffee? Nice pics

I tried to find the Panang Tuna at a TJs — grrrrrr. I’ll try again at my local TJs, hopefully with greater success.
