Sunset JUNKFOOD FUNKtion

Just wanted to give all you fellow epicureans a heads up about next weekends Sunset Junction Music Festival in Silverlake. Actually, I also consider it a food festival. They’ll have local band performances as well as vendors selling yummy festival fare. Last year, had some bratwurst, philly cheese steaks, thai food. Basically, it’s good comfort food. Buy the food and sit over at the brewery right near Hyperion. I had a blast last year. Only $9.99 for entrance.

I went two years ago and was excited to see that they had funnel cakes (a dutchie treat from back east) but found them to be absolutely inedible.
I’ll give ther other vendors a try again this year.

i didn’t have the funnel cakes. not really into those. but i’m sure you’ll be happy with the other vendors. Flea from Red Hot Chili Peppers will probably be there. he has a music school in Silverlake and usually has his kids perform. pretty entertaining.

cybele - Have you tried the funnel cakes at the Fairfax Farmer’s Market? I’m no expert, but they were pretty tasty fried bits of dough.

Is parking tough at Sunset junction? Never been before, just wondering what to expect

yeah it is kinda tough. i remember having to park a good 3-4 blocks away. it really depends on the time you go. i went around 3 pm last year. obviously, the bigger bands will draw bigger crowds. most of the headliners are after 7pm.

last year I went on a saturday.
this year the new york dolls are headlining on the sunday. I usually just lay out on my hammock on a sunday eating mozzeralla cheese or something slow enough to where i can feel the day burn off but that sunday i think i’m gonna have to go see the dolls.

Damn, that’s poetic and evocative.

2 years ago, starving, i ordered and ate a pupusa. it was hot, fresh, cheap, and crazy yummy. I haven’t enjoyed a pupusa like that since my first one ever.
