Thank you, Rene!

I finally had a chance to go to Pistachio on Monday of last week. I’d jotted the address down in my notebook and waited for the right opportunity to check it out. (original review link below) It was great. Everyone at our table cleaned our plates. I’m so grateful for the recommendation, Rene!

We went for dinner, and I have to admit, we had the place to ourselves. It’s certainly not as busy as the little French place we walked past, with people teeming out onto the sidewalk, but you can’t beat the food at Pistachio. Don’t let the empty seats dissuade you. Soon enough, you won’t find a seat, I’m sure.

I had the lentil soup as a starter, which was flavored with lemon, and very good. I also had the pomegranate/walnut stew. Puts that SADAF stuff in a jar to shame, I say. Yum.

My husband and my friend had the other two stews on the menu, but they had the house salads instead of soup. Literally, both of them at it all. Luckily, we all traded tastes early in the meal, because I don’t think anyone would have wanted to share.

The lamb shank was very good. The denuded bone was my friend’s husband’s evidence of a meal well enjoyed. I think he’d have picked up that bone and gnawed on it if he was alone.

I caught a glimpse of the pistachio/saffron/rose ice cream on the menu and HAD to have it. It was an amazing blend of the three flavors, earthiness of pistachio, warmth of saffron and finishing perfume of rose, dotted with sweet & sour cherries. The portion was generous, certainly enough to share, and I would have, if there were any takers, but I dine with culinary cowards.

I have *GOT* to find better people to eat with!
