Röckenwagner’s Stammtisch
Wednesday, August 24, 2005 12:45To celebrate their 20th anniversary, Rockenwagner is hosting Stammtisch dinners this week. What’s a Stammtisch?
The idea stems from the German Stammtisch tradition, where meals are served family-style by the chefs themselves. Chefs Rockenwagner and Wolfi Gussmack will be on hand nightly to personally keep the food flowing from the kitchen. Menu changes daily. Four course family style meal. $20.20 cash, $22.00 credit card
$20 is hard to beat, this week’s menu is:
Wednesday - Grilled Farmers’ Market Vegetables, Garlic Bread Soup, Angel Hair Pasta w/ Portobello Mushrooms, Carrot Cake
Thursday - Romaine w/ Bleu Cheese, Cauliflower Soup, Flank Steak w/ Tomatoes & Potatoes, Linzer Torte
Friday - Bread Salad, Pasta Al Arrabiata, Salmon w/ Capers & Basil Sauce, Apricot Cake
Saturday - Cold Pasta Salad w/ Vegetable, Mushroom-Potato Soup, Pork Roast w/ Potatoes, Rhubarb Cake
Sunday- Caesar Salad, Chicken Noodle Soup, Wiener Schnitzel w/ Potato Salad, Assorted Pastries

awesome! I have one for Sunday. (K. doesn’t know yet… :-)
PS–I asked them about OpenTable and what they thought of it — apparently it costs the restaurant $3 / reservation made at Open Table. Interesting…

Literally the word “Stammtisch” means the table (=tisch) in a bar or restaurant where the regular customers are sitting (almost) every day.
regular customer = Stammkunde
stem = Stamm
So in German we say “stem customer” and “stem table” ;-)
