Chilaquiles

Who would’ve thought that tortilla chips scrambled with egg, salsa and cheese could be such a day-starting meal - only Eat Well in West Hollywood. I first had this delightful dish back at my old agency’s cafeteria and found it to be just as unique as the Peruvian saltado dish (meat, tomatoes, onions and FRIES sautéed in soy sauce). Ever since then, chilaquiles are the first thing I look for at any Mexican restaurant, but it’s also quite hard to find. If you know of any other places that serve up chilaquiles, please inform me. For $6.75, Eat Well serves a generous portion of chilaquiles with rice and beans. Don’t feel like trying this, you’ll find your typical diner fare plus an extended breakfast menu that ends at 3 pm. Have fun coloring/drawing on their paper mats while you wait.

the chilaquiles on the brunch menu at cha cha cha are great - i think brunch there is wholly underappreciated.

Actually, if you live in Austin, Texas, this is incredibly EASY to find, but it is called Migas there. It is available at almost every restaurant that serves breakfast, Mexican and non-Mexican alike.

I’ll second the recommendation of Cha Cha Cha’s chilaquiles. I’m also quite partial those offered by La Taquiza on Figueroa.

Migas and chilaqules are different. Migas has the chips cooked in the eggs. Chilaqules is the chips laid down, then the eggs, then red sauce. What you have picture looks more like migas.

oh really, on the menu it said chilaquiles. i’ll settle for either one. and to clarify, only Cha Cha Cha’s silverlake location serves breakfast. not the west hollywood one. =(

My mother in law makes this, I had never heard of it before, and I absolutely fell in love with it. Then, to my delight, I found out that Don Chuy’s, on Washington Place in Mar Vista, also serves it.

Ahhhh. I miss the migas at the Taco Stand # something on Airport by I-35 in Austin. I find the Mexican food in souther cal to be a total dissapointment.

I highly recommend Eat Well’s “Big Mess” as well! The best hangover breakfast I’ve yet to find! It’s a giant scramble of all things good and breakfasty. Potato, sausage, cheddar, and self-described on their menu, “along with anything else (they) can find!” Very satisfying, and perfect for sharing with someone with a side of choice. Even better than the (sometimes) overly-sweet Griddle.

    Camilo’s chilaquiles! Yum!

They fry up their tortilla strips fresh - then use them in dishes. Crunchy…
