The Great Taco Hunt

The Great Taco Hunt is a blog about Tacos, obviously. Better yet, it’s a blog about tacos in Los Angeles.

I decided that it was time to head south with my taco journey and acting on a tip from a reader I found myself at a taco and mexican seafood truck in Gardena called El Antojito .El Antojito is on the corner of Figueroa and 168th st on a big lot that also houses a juice bar as well as a large shaded seating area. What at first looked like a simple taco truck turned out to be quite an operation. This isn’t your ordinary taco truck my friends. When you place your order you get a reciept and when your order is ready you’ll hear your number over a speaker system.

Hi, I’m trying to find an old take out taco stand in the San Gabriel Valley (El Monte?) called Taco Treat. They served the BEST fried burritos. Formerly located on Mission Street in South Pasadena since the ’70’s, I think they maybe finally folded their tent but am still hoping they’re in business somewhere. Anybody know? Thanks.

Taco Treat at 74 Live Oak Ave in Arcadia, has the best fried burritos, american style tacos and nicely stacked tostada.

My wife grew up in South Pasadena and still raves about how great Taco Treat was with the friend burritos and bean dip. We live in TX, but just returned from vacation in Glendora and decided to find out what happened to Taco Treat. George Wong is right - the last one is in Arcadia. Apparantly, divorce ruined the location in South Pasadena, and the other franchisees (of which there were 15) all folded at various times.

Taco Treat was started on Garfield Ave. Owned by Daniel & Linda Gonzales - they later moved to South Pasadena then to West Covina on Sunset Ave. The only remaining Taco Treat in on Live Oak in Arcadia
