Santa Monica Farmers Market Report For 9/21/05
Wednesday, September 21, 2005 10:50Just got back from the far mar and think my arms are going to break! I bought white zucchini, bell peppers, Anaheim chilies, mutsu apples, red grapes, onions, avocados, pears, and green beans. It was bumping down there.
What I saw this week:
- Lots of bell peppers, all colors, from yellow to green, red to even purple
- Tons of grapes just starting to come out (red and green as well as other varieties)
- Many varieties of chilies
- Apples are really starting to show up- Fuji are popping up as well as other varieties
- Pears are coming out, as well as apple-pears (one stand has had apple pears for a while)
- Carrots in plenty
- Nectarines and peaches are still around, but less than a few weeks ago
- Corn - I saw three stands with only a little and the prices were higher than a month ago
- Tomatoes of all colors are still around
- Today I saw beets (quite a few people selling beets) and fennel being sold
- Avocados are great, but the stand I like to buy them from said only 2 weeks left when i asked
- Nice green beans are all over
I’m sure there is lots more out there, this is just my report from the stands I went to
