Santa Monica Farmers Market Report For 11/30/05
Wednesday, November 30, 2005 17:11I just got in from the Santa Monica Farmers Market - it was much quieter than last week. I picked up some broccoli, brussel sprouts, fuji apples, tangerines, spinach (i found someone selling it cleaned in a plastic bag which was nice)…I think that’s about it. I also turned onto second street, which i don’t often do, and found the La Brea Bakery stand. They had some bread options, muffins, cookies, and brownies for sale. It seemed like they were doing pretty well, even though they are at the end of the market. Juliano’s Raw had a food stand, but I skipped it. As for the coming and going of produce, there were less apples than a few weeks ago but still a number of stands were offering them, lots of brussel sprouts, squash, dark leafy greens, a number of stands had meyer lemons, regular lemons, tons of people have tangelos and tangerines, lots of bacon avocados and fuerte avocados, the fresh milk truck is out, the egg guy, the cheese guy, plenty of peppers, lots of carrots and potatoes. Green bean prices were up for Blue Lake beans at the stand I usually buy- this week they were around 2.50 where in the summer I get them for 1.50.
