I meant to comment here, I went a couple weeks after your review and LOVED it! I had the duck and we were with a big party in the back room so I got to try a lot of other dishes.

The salads they had were also very good, I had the red cabbage salad, but the cucumber and the califlour salads were also really nice.

Be sure to try the duck - it's fantastic. They also make a mean martini with Polish vodka (they only serve Polish vodka).

Good God, when did that open? Can't believe I haven't heard about it. I'd be out the door but I've already eaten...

Not true Maribeth, there's a great mom & pop Polish restaurant called Polka in Eagle Rock.

Nice to see Warszawa's still open, haven't been since I took a date there in the late 80's. Do they still have tongue on the menu?

I have to try it. We lived next to Warsazwa for two years but only went there after hours for the bar scene upstairs, and movie night on the patio.

A: True. The portions aren't ridiculously large, but I wouldn't call them artsy. I think that the restaurant struck a good balance between good, unpretentious food and interesting menu items and presentation.

In the Midwest, Polish restaurants give you ridiculously heaping plates of pork tenderloin, sausage and sauerkraut. If this is what you are looking for, the artsy smaller portions at Warszawa may disappoint you, specially when you find out how good the food is.

But definitely go, because the rack of lamb is to die for! Besides, it is the only Polish restaurant in L.A.
