Bob’s “Kitty” Donuts

How long do you have to live in L.A. before someone clues you into Bob’s “Kitty” donuts?! Late last night I stumbled onto an entry about them at L.A. Is My Beat. Ellen writes:

Last night there was this amazing doughnut at Bob’s. It’s called The Kitty. Of course, Brooke found and bought this faboo confection. I’m allergic to real kitties, but I’m totally addicted now to The Amazing Kitty Doughnut!
Appalled that a thing of such ingenuity and beauty has not once been brought to my attention — for all the years I’ve lived in L.A., I called Bob. First, I looked him up on the Farmer’s Market site where I found the following write-up:
Critically acclaimed - the best donut shop in Los Angeles. The “senior doughnut makers� at Bob’s Doughnuts start work at 4:30 AM in order to bake about 1,000 doughnuts each and every day.
I got up pretty early this morning to place my call. Bob didn’t answer, but a busy woman picked up. She informed me that Bob and his team of crack “senior doughnut makersâ€? produce a dozen chocolate and a dozen pink (!) “Kitty” doughnuts each day. Bob’s doors open at 6:30 AM and if you want a dozen of any one color, she asks that you call ahead.

When you wrote “Kitty Donut”, at first I thought you meant a donut for Cats. Like a cookie. Glad I read the post.
A pink kitty donut sounds to cute to pass up.

Eww. I can almost envision myself shaping the cat’s wet food into a donut and decorating it with dry food sprinkles.
