^ Huh, I, for one, happen to dig Zteve's hard-boiled writing style. Each to their own, I suppose.

Hard to understand what sparked such a vitriolic attack, tho, paula.

Incidentally, it just so happens that from this very review, Zteve was able to land a gig writing food commentaries for a show called Off-Ramp. It airs on NPR Radio, 89.3, Saturdays at noon.

I invite you to check out the various other writers on this site.

I know this is an old post, but seriously? Who told you that you could write? Trying to get super padded fluff to get to an actual review was torture. Trying to hard to be witty, make yourself relevant - you come off as one of those cheap thriller novels they sell at drugstores. I hope to hell that you're still not writing anymore. The way you're perpetuating the stereo types of skid row... The place is not great, but you make it sound like you were dodging bullets and needles as your ate. Seriously, get a freaking life. I hope NO ONE takes you seriously

Loved your review... you took the words right out of my mouth! I used to work downtown LA and my husband still does. He turned me on to this place many years ago and we've been going there and seeing the same faces behind the counter for years. The Giant Shrimp (GIGANTES) is the BEST EVER! I am a seafood conisoure even if I can't spell it, and let me tell you, if you love shirmp these are THEM! They are like little lobsters! We had lunch there today and it's been about 6 months since I've been to Fisherman's Outlet, but everything was TOTALLY ON POINT! Just as I remembered and the guys are polite, quick, no nonsense, and best of all CONSISTENT! We spent $60 bucks for the 2 of us, shrimp, a few beers. It may seem like a lot, but this food is absolutely AMAZING. even if you live in San Diego, you should drive up and go here. I have NEVER felt threatened or scared eating here. It is a great fun and colorful place. Today Michael Eisner and a bunch of CBS execs, etc... were lunching with us, families, this is a complete family place. It has been upgraded with a covered patio and more enclosed. We sat at a table with another single man and made a new friend plus we got to see the "sights" going on all around us! There is a parking lot with it's own attendent, who is very polite and QUICK! if you need to leave your keys, he is on it, uniformed and happy to get you your car. I always tip the guy, hey, I just got the best high ever, GIGANTES, he deserves a few bucks for watching over my vehicle! "I'm high on those shrimp!" said my husband GV. I can't wait to go back. I wish I could eat those shrimp every day, every meal! I think it's the way they quick quick them over open fire. mmmmm THANKS GUYS!

I agree with you on the crabcakes, but you forgot to mention that they are in so in expensive, especially compared to fine restaurants. Also the charbroiled fish (your pick) is really excellent for those who want to avoid the breaded deep fried stuff. For those who don't want to deal with the lines, here's a secret: Go to the shop to the right of the kitchen for seafood salads and clam chowder soup. You can also buy uncooked seafood to prepare at home if you think you can cook better.
