SoCal Krispy Kremes Imperiled
Thursday, January 5, 2006 11:57Krispy Kreme Doughnuts has terminated the license of its Southern California franchisee, Great Circle Family Foods. The company operates 28 Krispy Kreme outlets in Southern California.
Termination of the franchise license means that effective immediately, Great Circle can no longer operate its stores as Krispy Kreme outlets, Laura Smith, a spokeswoman for the chain, said. The company also has 30 days to remove all Krispy Kreme signs and symbols.

[update] It was the great donut stand-off that ended peacefully. Krispy Kreme reinstated Great Circle Family Foods’ licenses after the company agreed to make payments. The spray-painted Crispy Creme signs have been stored in the shed for next month.Link.

That’s wild, it seems like I was just reading about ’round the block lines for the opening of each local store. Maybe the franchisee will just change the name to “Crispy Cream”
