Two More Days for Röckenwagner

As we mentioned last month, Röckenwagner is closing its doors. The last day is Saturday and I’m certain that it will be packed. I can’t help but share part of a note that Patti sent to people who subscribe to their email list. It’s a gerat glimpse into the life of a successful chef.

I have to admit this is a bittersweet time for me personally. While I have benefited from all the free pretzels, crab soufflés, filets and nougat parfaits a girl can devour, this change also means I will no longer be a restaurant widow. Imagine – no more parties alone, no more nights waiting for Hans to get home, no more last-minute restaurant emergencies. Imagine all the movies, parties, concerts and dinners we’ll go to. Imagine all the amazing home-cooked meals the kids and I will get!

But wait, I guess it also means no more built-in place to celebrate the most important moments of our lives – the anniversaries, the birthdays, the holidays. No more seemingly endless supply of high-grade meat, fish and cheese. No more invitations to cook at exclusive resorts in exotic places. And for the first time, I’ll be accountable for actually getting home on time.

Best of luck to Hans, Patti and the family, I look forward to hitting up 3 Square Café and Bakery on Abbot Kinney when it opens!
