I enjoyed your post. Some of my favorite burgers in LA reside at The Nook, Ford's Filling Station and Father's Office.

Last night was my birthday & I wanted a GOOD burger. I discovered "Jacks Classic Burgers" and I was very impressed. It was DELICIOUS!! I finally found someplace out of the "same old" mainstream burgers! And it's just a little stand in a 7-11 parking lot! DEFINITELY worth a try!! (I got a double bacon cheeseburger)....YUM!! :)

The burger was mediocre at best and the service was offensive in its sexual overtones. Not something one expects or hopes for while trying to eat a meal.

Yes, not only is the KABC recognition 25 years old, but if you start reading all the stuff posted on the walls inside you discover that the last positive review dates back to the very early 1990's. After that the only things posted are commendations for cleanliness and such.

I thought the burger was awful. Though they claim it is a 1/4lb burger, it looked barely bigger than a McD's or BK regular burger. This may well be because of the horrific length of time that it was cooked. Our burgers were solid black on the outside and nearly so on the inside, and, (this is not exaggeration) they crunched!

The only benefit to this treatment that I can see is that they did give a griddle-fried burger (which can never be in the running for best burger in my view) some of the attributes of a flame-grilled burger.

The fries were pretty good, and the lentil soup was tasty. But I will not be repeating the experience.

Freedom fries? I've never seen that at the Habit. How lame! How about I go freedom kiss my girlfriend,

Best burger in So Cal?

IMHO:

In-N-Out
Apple Pan (West LA)
Tommy's
Hungry Cat (Hollywood)

I haven't tried Father's Office (West LA) or Pie and Burger (Pasadena), although they are on many people 's top lists as well.

There burgers were very disappointing for the price! I thought that it was a ripoff. Fatburger is way better. I think that you should try Giant Burger in Torrance on PCH and Anza. That place has the best burgers that I've ever tasted. Do try the Texas burger with chilli! Like their name implies, they are humongous. Hope to see a review on them soon!

I've found the Habit to be a serviceable hamburger in the past. What you neglect to mention is that they are one of the few restaurants in Los Angeles to engage in the embarassment of re-naming French fries to "freedom fries". After I noticed the change, I haven't been back.
