Santa Monica Farmer’s Market Report: 1.28.06
Monday, January 30, 2006 21:42The Santa Monica Farmer’s Market was hopping last Saturday morning. We haven’t been there since the holidays, so the produce had completely changed in our absence! We saw some wonderful strawberries, greens, mandarins and blood oranges.
We picked up:
–Black Kale (It looks simply amazing.)
–Yellow Cauliflower (We had this last night. It was a little more peppery than normal cauliflower. The same seller also had purple cauliflower and the silly fractalesque cauliflower.)
–A Bag of Mandarins (The bag was a great deal at 3.5 lbs for $6. It was filled to the brim with sweet/sour mandarins that look just like little pumpkins!)
–Asparagus
–Fuji Apples

Which farmer’s market do you go to–the one near the 3rd street promenade or the one at the airport? Just curious b/c I want some funky cauliflower…

I have seen the colored cauliflower at both the Promenade Market and the Sunday Market at Main and Ocean Park.

We were at the Promenade Farmer’s Market. I have also seen the funky cauliflower at the Westwood Farmer’s Market. Have fun searching!
