A new Friday Feature here, where are you dining this weekend?

    I’ll start:

Sunday morning will probably be at the Santa Monica Farmer’s Market where I get my usual breakfast wrap at Carbon Grill.

I know we are going out tonight, but the location is TBD. Chinese at Mao’s, Indian at Akbar, maybe somewhere new!

I’m going to “Wolfe Burger” in Pasadena on Saturday night. It’s part of a “Buger Adventure” through LA my friends and I are on.

I’m looking forward to it. Very close by is a more famous burger place called “Pie n’ Burger” which I have been to and did enjoy.

We’re broke from last weekend, so it will be a trip to the Whole Foods in Glendale for dry aged beef or buffalo strip steaks. I feel a soup in the works, also. I’ll probably shoot by Santa Monica Seafood for fresh oysters and Indian Candy. Today for lunch: JR’s BBQ in Culver City.

Zteve - I have to chuckle, feeling broke so you’re heading to Whole Foods and Santa Monica Seafood! I know what you mean though, making quality food at home is still cheaper than eating out, even at a moderately priced restaurant.

We have been making weekly soups, usually a creamy creamless veggie soup - cauliflour, carrot, broccoli, asparagus, whatever looks good.

Saturday morning, delightful dim sum at Ocean Star in Monterey Park.

Sunday morning, a delicious bowl of Pho from either Golden Deli in San Gabriel or Pho Pasteur in Rosemead.

Zteve, i’d be broke from Whole Foods alone.

So it has been decided, I’m hitting up The Counter tonight for a burger (my first time there).

My weekend’s already started. French toast w/ strawberries and bananas + coffee at Mustard Seed. There’s no better lunch than breakfast.

Sat night, Ciudad for dinner. Yum! On Sunday doing the all you can eat (stuff your face food marathon) w/friends at Marie Callendar’s sunday brunch (the good one, on Wilshire). Endless champagne and chocolate fountain…what more does one need?

I’m going to Ford’s Filling Station tonight! Then maybe the Ma’Kai luau on Sunday afternoon after I go to the Ashes & Snow exhibit. Probably eating out much more, but haven’t decided where yet!

Yeah, tell me about Whole Foods and their Guilty Hippy Shakedown Marketing Scheme. I wouldn’t step foot in one if the Glendale location wasn’t the best in the city, and I lived two blocks from the one in Santa Monica. Yeah, there’s not as much silicone bouncing through the aisles, but it has awesome food. I assume everyone does what I do, buy only fish, cheese and meat there, toilet paper and mayonnaise at Ralphs.

We are heading for the Buggy Whip in Westchester (La Tijera near the 405). Great 60’s style with great steaks.

California Chicken Cafe tonight, then perhaps All India Cafe at Santa Monica Blvd. and Bundy Dr. on Saturday.

All India is so good, I am having my standard Nirvana Chicken…

Saturday I’ll be tasting bits of things I’m making at a party I’m catering, and Sunday it’s either going to be home-made fried chicken and from-scratch waffles washed down with Veuve Cliquot (going away dinner for some friends) or grilled cheese sandwiches, tomato soup and gatorade (my favorite post-catering recovery foods)

Square One Dining. Great breakfast find!
It’s located on Fountain, just west of Vermont.
