From time to time I like to make crepes at home, hence I rarely eat pancakes when I go out for brunch.

But the only place in LA that's worth a damn (I reckon!) is Dupars in Studio City. They do these really light and fluffy buttermilk pancakes.

Still, those pumpkin ones at John O'Groats sound pretty spesh. Mebbe I should branch out... take a walk on the wild side...
Oh, I think Hugos do some cool ones, too.

I loved the pancakes at both John O' Groats and the Lazy Daisy (mmm... banana!). Swinger's (Santa Monica) are pretty good as well!

I've lived in six different neighborhoods in LA, but never lived near a good pancake. It's probably what I'd specialize in if I had a restaurant, because it's what I'm always missing. I'm talking about the traditional panckake: tender and light-textured like the platter-sized ones at The Pantry downtown. Mmm-doggy. In La Canada, there is a wonderful restaurant called Dish that is well-loved for it's breakfast menu, which regularly features three more upscale pancakes: buttermilk pancakes, apple oatcakes, and cornmeal jonnycakes, all of which are outstanding. http://dishbreakfastlunchanddinner.com/

So I've only been to one pancake house in the last year, and that's in Manhattan Beach - Uncle Bill's Pancake House. I wonder if they're doing anything to recognize this international celebration? Sounds like a lot of fun! I like mine with extra fruit and whipped cream, please. :)
