Where Can I Get Deep Dish Chicago Pizza?

Where can I get Deep Dish Chicago pizza in Los Angeles? And preferably something with tomato sauce, a great regular crust and nothing in any way affiliated with people who’d be crazy enough to put goat cheese on a pizza?
There aren’t many suggestions there yet, any ideas?

There’s Taste Chicago in Burbank. I’ve never tried it, but I know a lot people from Chi-town who go when they feel a little homesick.

Taste Chicago’s pizza is Sicilian, not Chicago deep dish :-( but the Italian beef there is pretty authentic. There’s BJ’s in Long Beach that reportedly has deep dish, though I’ve never tried it.

Tony’s Little Italy Pizza in Placentia is the most authentic Chicago style pizza in So Cal. The guy that owns it is from there and knows how to make it right! With an amazing sauce on top of the stuffed pizza and the oozing mozzie cheese this place is down right better then most Chicago pizza restaurants and a far cry better then that crappy BJ’s version.

Chicago Pasta House is the only place that I have found to really nail the Classic Chicago Deep Dish Pizza and they even have green olives on the toppings menu! Its even worth the drive to the 909! Or I guess its the 951 now. :)

I have had Taste Chicago’s Chicago Pan Deep Dish and it is the real deal. I worked on a movie that Joe Mantegna’s daughter was in (he owns the place with wife) and when he said he owned a Chicago-style restaurant, I asked if he had deep dish pizza. He said they were perfecting a recipe (a process which took months apparently…possibly years.) That was March of 2006. I tried it this summer after they unveiled the pizza and it is very very good. They also have real Italian Beef and Sausage combos, which can save you a drive to Portillos! I just wish Joe would open another Taste Chicago on the West Side. They got fantastic food though, well worth finding.

Michael’s on Naples in Long Beach has authentic homemade deep dish pizza, with the absolute freshest ingredients. You will not be disappointed. I promise. It’s almost as good as the best I’ve had in Chicago.
