Ed Levine covered the James Beard Award Ceremony live and reports that LA’s own Suzanne Goins won not one, but two awards. The first was Book Award: Cooking from a Professional Point of View for Sunday Suppers at Lucques : Seasonal Recipes from Market to Table and the second was the award for Best Chef: California

Congratulations Suzanne, your honors are well deserved!

[addendum] LA Observed points out that Patrick Kuh from the LA Times and Jonathan Gold (patron saint of LA foodbloggers) took home awards from the Beard journalism awards ceremony.

James Beard Award-winning authors Andrew Dornenburg and Karen Page also hosted a really fun Live Blog of this year’s James Beard Awards, complete with photos and names of people the winners forgot to thank:

There is an article in today’s local newspaper regarding this event. A chef from my area (Illinois) has been invited to cook a meal at the John Beard Home in Greenwich for 100 guests. This is quite an honor. I wonder how are the guests picked.
