Chicken Dijon
Tuesday, May 23, 2006 7:29Zankou hasn’t moved to the South Bay yet. For South Bayians to get their rotisserie chicken fix, I propose Chicken Dijon. With locations in El Segundo, Torrance, Redondo Beach and Rolling Hills Estates, they are fairly accessible.
Accessibility is one thing, good chicken is another. What I like about Chicken Dijon is that their chicken is plump, their thighs are juicy and their dark meat serving includes the leg, thigh and wing. Other chicken joints sometimes serve up low meat thighs, with a meat to skin ratio of nearly 1:1, lame.
Chicken Dijon also serves up hearty side dishes. Most of the time I get the quarter chicken dark meat combo. The combo comes with two side dishes, I like the hummous and baked potato. If I want to go lower calorie, I opt for the steamed vegetables or side salad. The combo can be had for around $6 and you can have all white meat if you’re some sort of weirdo.

Speaking of salads, Chicken Dijon has a few. Their signature house salad includes chicken and pasta and is quite popular. My favorite salad is their Chinese Chicken Salad which has a light tangy dressing and a nice mix of peanuts and veggies. The chicken that Dijon uses on their salads is fresh, not prepacked somewhat processed like another chicken joint (*cough* kookooroo *cough*).
Chicken Dijon is a great go-to spot for lunch. I’m never disappointed, and can fill up for a good price. Friendly service, but somewhat lousy parking, at least at the El Segundo location.

Too funny! Yeah, I gotta have that plump, delicious thigh flesh with maybe a bit of white meat on the side, just for the sake of appearances.
Great post. Thanks.
