Di Dio’s Italian Ice
Sunday, June 25, 2006 20:30Last week, Kristy wrote about Japanese shaved ice. I do like shaved ice (or “shave” ice in Hawaii), but one of my favorite summer treats is to head over to Di Dio’s Italian Ices on Montana.

Di Dio’s serves authentic Italian Ices, which are made from fresh fruit and fruit juice, plenty of sugar and some water.

You can get multiple flavors in one order. I usually get the medium size ($3.50) and stack it with three flavors. Rather than eating the top flavor and moving on to the next, I bore a hole down the side and pick away at the different choices.

Di Dio’s hypes their Blood Orange flavor when it is available, but honestly, it seems like it is always available. It could be that I mostly go there in the summer though.
Italian Ice is the ultimate headache inducer, so be careful and resist the urge to power down your whole order in under a minute.
I tend to stick with the citrus flavors, like grapefruit, lime, lemon and the aforementioned blood orange. The watermelon nice as well.
