Live Breakfast LA.foodblogging from Rita Flora
Friday, August 4, 2006 7:54I wonder if adding Wi-Fi to your restaurant adds to your business?

I recently noted the new sign up at the Rita Flora on La Brea and 6th trumpeting the addition of free Wi-Fi.
I asked my food server, Joanna, how long the Wi-Fi had been in place and how well it had been working? She said it was in for awhile but it was only two months ago that they had some experts come in to improve the speed and reliability of the service and thus the new sign advertising it. I can report to you that preparing this post and uploading the photos went swiftly. Joanna also added helpfully that the connection was better in the florist section of the restaurant.

I’ve eaten at the place before and it is a nice space to enjoy breakfast. The store is a florist (apparently a top-notch one at that) and a restaurant.

I suppose it is perk of being a florist-restaurant to be able to decorate your table with a beautiful rose.

I ordered up waffles for breakfast.

The food is good if a bit pricey for the type and amount of food - breakfast food must be the highest margin meal of the day! - but the atmosphere of the place is hard to beat: nice clean layout of the interior space, city sounds, the sights and aromas of beautiful flowers and plants and of course, Westside good-looking people watching!

Yes, good breakfast! And a bit over-priced, perhaps their rent is high. They’re one of the first restaurants I came across that offer wheat-free/gluten-free breads. At first we laughed at the idea ignorantly thinking it was some L.A. fad to please the shrinking masses, but it isn’t so! (At least for the most part) It wasn’t until sometime this year that I learned people really do have allergies to gluten. (Having been raised Buddhist, I was use to foods made with wheat gluten to look and have the texture of meat.)

Thanks for sharing your perspective.
I too only learned of problems with gluten a few years back when I met someone who has Celiac disease. Since then I’ve met a few more.
To read more about that check out this informative page from the National Institutes of Health.

i wonder if one of the reasons why there’s so many accidents at that intersection is because of drivers trying to read all those signs they have in front of rita flora….
