Hot dawg! So glad folks are enjoying this haven - thanks so much for reporting back. Not sure why Suzanne chose Jar as the name, but I imagine the real deal has similar accoustics. It IS loud. But with Billy Dee talkin' next to you, who's complaining? :)

Birthday dinner at JAR last night, thank you for the recommendations. Side dishes (japanese purple yams and duck fried rice) were amazing! Plus, Billy Dee Williams was eating at the bar. Can't beat that!

Juicy review! My hair saon is nextdoor to Jar and I've seen it go through various changes. Didn't it used to be Indochine? Anyway, promoted by the mouth-watering review i popped nextdoor this evening and treated myself to a mouth-watering steak. DE-licious. btw, why is it called Jar? Max mentioned someting about the acoustics and i agree with him - perhaps its called Jar because all that mindless chatter is so jarring when I'm trying to focus on my meat.

Secret dishes such as ... well, the problem with sitting at the bar is that memories become hazy by the time you leave, but the one that sticks out in my mind was a gigantic hamburger, I believe with bleu cheese?

You could probably ask the bartender to clue you in too ...

Gotta agree - comparing this to Lucques is a strange conundrum, but if forced to choose, I like Jar better. It's more lively and consistent for moi. You also heard correctly - have a supreme cocktail first, and DEFINITELY have the butterscotch pudding - my fav. :)

It's a whole different experience than Lucques. My favorite thing to do is go early and just eat at the bar.

You get some good tips that way too, because the bartender will tell you what's good, and I've sat next to some "friends of Suzanne" that way and discovered secret dishes not on the menu.

Make that 'mozzarella'... According to Jar's website, Mozzarella Mondays are still happening.

Anyway, Jar is on my list for the next steak adventure. I've heard the thing to do is to get there early to imbibe a martini and indulge in their homemade potato chips and horseradish-cream dipping sauce.

I'll either be sampling the Filet Mignon or the Bone-In Rib-Eye, which is apparently Out. Of. This. World.

Then there's the Banana Cream Pie with Caramel
Butterscotch pudding...

Easy parking across the street if you hate the valet scene.
