Stopped by Groundwork today after the Hollywood market. Their espresso operation has gotten quite a facelift, thanks (I believe) to Eton from the now-defunct Tao Organic.

Gone are bitter, astringent shots; aromatic crema now sits atop each cup (which can now be porcelain if you wish), revealing a full-bodied nectar underneath. Best shot in LA since I stopped by Caffe Luxxe in Santa Monica.

I think sooslo meant "amen". Pretty sure sooslo does not like Starbucks and instead prefers "Higher Groundz". Sounds like sooslo needs to learn how to make prize winning pie.

Hey, all are entitled to their opinion on Starbucks. I'm not a "burnt" roast kind of girl but some like those strong flavors.

I think that "Torts or Tarts" should be the title of my autobiography. It really should have been the title of my blog.

Hey... don't know where I landed but it is a veeerrry intriguing corner of cyper-land. la.foodblogging, me likey.

I say 'ahem' to your opinion of Starbucks... Alas, SLOtown does not have a Groundworks, but we have something called Higer Grounds and if I close my eyes I can almost smell the roasty toasty aroma.... it is... fair trade, organic, and shade-grown coffee heaven.

BTW, had a dream last night that you had a blog entry entitled: 'Torts or Tarts'... :) do you think I'm obsessing about the pie contest?

Hey, thanks for the shoutout, KT!

I've long been wanting to try Groundwork, and intend to on my next trip to LA (or perhaps the one after that). Green LA Girl's been writing about it for some time, but it's great to read another, trusted opinion on the place.

I have pledged my love for Groundwork's coffee here before, so it's no suprise that I agree with your review!

Interesting about the Clover, I haven't seen one of those in a retail store. I wonder if the price is higher? Kepp us posted sneakypeteiii.

The Hollywood location should be getting a Clover soon, which brews single cups to order, and has received rave reviews from the coffee community. I think they're going to start offering some more boutique coffees by the cup, which are certainly worth a try.
