The Return of Spinach - Suzy’s SaMo FarMar Report
Wednesday, October 11, 2006 11:41A good week at the farmers market and fall is upon us. Pomegranates started to show up in the market last week and this week….yumm!! I always look forward to this time of year. I saw cauliflower for the first time this week, another indicator of the winter/late fall fruits and veg. coming in. Some peaches and plums, but less than a few weeks ago. Tons of heirloom tomatoes out there today and although I recently read an article indicating a statewide tomato shortage, you wouldn’t know it from the market. Lots of unique tomatoes at their usual prices (usual being the fancy variety FarMar prices).  Plenty of beans, peas, and peppers. Lots of grapes, a number of colors and sizes. I saw some pears, which were missing from the market last week, and tons of apples. Apple season is out in full force. A number of Asian pears as well. Root veggies and dark green were numerous, and I was even able to buy spinach for the first time in weeks. I was SO glad to see that out there today. I picked up some pomegranates, zucchini, eggplant (2 fancy varieties), spinach, Fuji apples, grapes, and cauliflower.
