Yes it is Me Gusta Gourmet Tamales. They won first place: pork tamale, vegetarian tamale(cheese with chile strips), sweet tamale(pinapple) they also got the peoples choice award. They will also be in Indio. They do have a store in Pacoima, 13752 Van Nuys Blvd. (818) 896- 8789. You can also find them in many farmers markets through out L.A., Orange and Ventura county.

I think the tamale stand is called "Me Gusta" and it's at the Melrose Place Farmer's market every Sunday. He told me on Sunday that his veggie tamales and his cheese tamales had won first prize.

Their tamales are really big. One could make a whole meal. The veggie one is full of different vegetables and makes a pretty hearty dinner.

I think they have a store in the Valley as well.

I wanted to go, but just didn't make it. Thanks very much, Rene, for your report -- your pix are fantastic!

^ KT -- which tamale guy at which farmer’s market on which day? Details, please! Would like to find him and sample his blue ribbon tamales.

I went to this one too (and will be blogging it soon) - it doesn't compare to the Indio one though (which is at least 10 times as big!) -- hope you're going to that ;) (Dec 2-3)

I didn't make it to this, but I was able to purchase the prize-winning tamales anyway, as I found out from the tamale guy at my farmer's market that they had won first prize on Sat.

Yay!
