Was randomly web surfing this morning and came across this item about how the Food Network cancelled Emeril’s show, “Emeril Live.” As a result of this move, searches on Yahoo! for Emeril went crazy indicating a huge fan base interested in what happens to this celebrity chef.
So please forgive this tabloid turn LAFB readers, who is your favorite Food Network culinary celebrity?
And to give this post a local angle, who do you listen to if you are puttering around the house doing chores and must have food talk on the radio?
Do you turn to KNX 1070’s Melinda Lee? Or is your dial set to KABC 790’s Chef Jamie?
UPDATE: Chef Jamie is no longer on KABC 790. Her web page indicates she will return to the airwaves with another station.

My votes:
I had the chance to hear Giada at the Los Angeles Times Festival of Books a few years back. Her cooking demo at the culinary stage was great. Her humor and ability to engage the audience was outstanding. Her personal story of her family and the part cooking played in it was down to earth. I immediately went and got her book Everyday Italian as a result. The line to get autographs was way too long! I’ve tried various recipes from the book on friends and they have given them the thumbs up!
As for the radio, I listen to both. To be a radio personality, you gotta have energy and they both do though I think Chef Jamie is more energetic. She comes across like your super capable cousin while Melinda has a kindly aunt personality.
For Food Network, I have a three-way tie between Giada, Ina Garten, and Tyler Florence.
I actually have never listened to any food talk radio. Maybe it’s time I start!?!
For radio, it’s Good Food on KCRW, of course!
As for Food Network, I’m on team Alton Brown and Good Eats.
My favorite Food Network celeb is Alton Brown. For food entertainment purposes, I’m kinda liking Guy Fieri wierd hair and all.
I enjoy podcasts so when I’m puttering around the house, on a morning walk or driving home from work my favorite podcast is the Restaurant Guys out of New Jersey. http://www.restaurantguysradio.com/sle/rg/
I am a BIG Alton Brown & Ina Garten fan!!! Alton Brown for pure geek/foodie amusement and Ina because she has great, down-to-earth recipes. I prefer reading her books though to watching the show. She comes across as a little stuck-up (in my opinion).

What credentials does Jamie have anyways- other than a basic culinary degree. I would bet her designer chef jackets would catch on fire if they ever got near a real stove…and the manicure- yeah right she’s ever worked in a real kitchen
By far, my favorite Food Network Chef is Ina Garten. She entertains in style with delicious recipes!!!!!!!
Actually, I believe Jamie Gwen is a C.I.A. graduate and she also has her Sommelier’s degree.
