Jonah, dineLA wishes you would contact them to share more details of the issue you had. dineLA does not want your bad experience to happen again.

Lisa-
I don't see Samba listed on this list:

DineLA Participating Restaurants

But now that I look again, I do remember seeing them there before. It is odd that they would be listed since restaurants pay $1000 to be included.

Samba had a great menu listed on DineLA but when I tried to make a reservation they said they were closed indefinitely for renovation. Why is it listed as a participating restaurant if it's not even open?

Takami serves sushi or miso salmon. The location is beautiful. 3 on fourth was really good too. Choice of Seabass or Steak. They also offer a wine tasting for $15 to go along the diner.

With regard to Stephen's comment, I wrote a note to the DineLA organizers and received this back (reprinted with permission):

Hi Jonah -

We were surprised to see this post on your blog about Tiara Cafe as they have been very supportive of dineLA restaurant week. In fact, they signed up for the Deluxe Dining category and provided us menus some time ago.

As you are probably aware, Tiara just recently started dinner service three nights a week, and creative culinary genius Fred Eric wanted to provide special additional offerings for dineLA Restaurant Week. Unfortunately, in the midst of preparing and training staff for dinner service, the new menu information and pricing inadvertently was not conveyed to dineLA to be uploaded on to the dineLA website. Turns out the guest who posted this comment on your blog received five courses for $34, but that isn't what he was expecting, and it was never dineLA or Tiara Cafe's intent to mislead guests in any way.

Bottom Line...Tiara Cafe is at the Deluxe Dining level and is offering $15 Lunches and $25 Dinners (Fri & Sun only). The lunch menus currently posted on the dineLA.com website for Tiara Cafe are correct, and dinner menus will be adjusted on the website by 1/30/08. In addition, dinner guests will have the option to upgrade to a five course menu for only $34 (still a great deal).

Again, it is not our intention to mislead guests wanting to participate in dineLA Restaurant Week or misrepresent our valued restaurant partners in this exciting inaugural event. We truly hope that all guests and restaurants enjoy a positive dineLA Restaurant Week.

Please let me know if you have any further questions.

All the best,

Polly Peak

Thanks for the report Florence, glad you had a good lunch! What did they serve? 3 on Fourth did look like they have some good options.

We are going to try Abode and Ruth's Chris (never been to one).

I sent an email to the DineLA folks to see if they have any comment on your experience Stephen. I'm assuming that they would talk to the Tiara management to find out their side of the story.

That is really crappy Stephen. There are too many hiccups by the restaurant to blame the DineLA site.

From their restaurant guidelines:

Restaurants must provide at least three options for each course, which will be included on the event Web site and promoted to the public. Portion sizes of the event menus should reflect appropriate serving sizes for each item. The dineLA Restaurant Week menu items you select must remain consistent throughout the entire event.

Also, the price clearly says $25 for dinner on the website.

Sorry to hear you were jerked around. I find that completely dishonest of the restaurant to treat you like that.
