Love + Valentine’s = Cheese

It’s no secret how much I love cheese. I also love my local cheese emporium, The Artisan Cheese Gallery in Studio City.

Apparently plenty of cheese aficionados make frequent pilgrimages to this temple of buttermilky delights. One of their bestsellers is Coach Triple Creme Goat from New York cheese maker Coach Farm (apparently the same people who made the Coach handbags and leather goods).

So owner Melody asked her friends at Coach if they would make it in a heart shape for Valentine’s Day - “just for them”.

And they said “Yes”.

Coach Farm made them a triple cream (meaning 75 percent butterfat) goat cheese that tastes like a smooth, rich, and creamy brie with hints of the tangy, grassy flavor typical of chevres.

And it’s in a sweet heart shape just in time for Valentine’s Day.

Had no idea Coach Farms & Coach purses are the same folks! Their cheese is pretty good — from what I remembered on their Mozza Pizza (with leeks & bacon).

    I know! Spooky, isn’t it?

Do you think they take all the milk from their goats until they’re past it and then - ahem - the poor nanny goats get turned into handbags and shoes?!

A remarkably miserable shopping experience at Artisan today. With 3 people behind the counter & 1 in the kitchen, and only 2 people ahead of me, it took 35 minutes to get service. Why? Simple — the staff totally ignored the “please take a number if we appear busy” sign, repeatedly serviced walk-up and ignored those waiting with numbers. Cheese is great. Service stinks!

This is a shop I drove by a number of times but never visited while in LA. *Sigh* I have yet to meet a blue I don’t love!

Oh Yum! The Tony Hook 10-year cheddar they have there is pure love for me. It’s like my cheese crack.

I fell across your blog on the 7th and Fig Farmer’s Market and then my attention was drawn to one of my favorite subjects: cheeeese! I’m also working on a blog on Downtown and OC foodie-friendly places, and highly recommend a little cheese shop called “Frog’s Breath” in the City of Orange. Check out my blog, I reviewed it just last week: http://www.anglophilelv.blogspot.com
