I was so happy to have a new place in my 'hood. Call my crazy, but I do love walking in LA - especially walking to dinner. The steak fries in pork fat are so so wrong and yet so so so right - each delectable bite of them. My Old School burger on the brioche bun was done to perfection. My dinner partner's Mini Croque left a lot to be desired in my book. The big thumbs down is the noise though. It was next-to-impossible to carry on a conversation. I look forward to the the initial crush of looky-loos subsiding so I can once again walk to Laurel Tavern.

looks like a nice place. I believe it's owned by the same folks as Library Bar, so the menu is similar. But the prices are lower here. The burger is $10 in Downtown, but only $8 here. Laurel Tavern isn't too far from my house, so if I'm ever in that part of the Valley, I'll check it out. Btw, I love how these guys are bringing roasted marrow bones to the gastropub scene.

Glad to know there's a new hang in my hood. Sounds like fun and if the fries are good, I'm there. Thanks for the tip.

Fair enough - except I am not at all a beer drinker, so I have no idea which ones are good and why, nor which beers are rare vs common.

There seemed to be more than one selection from the following breweries: Craftsman, Anderson Valley and Telegraph. Hope that helps.

Would have liked to have read more about the beer selection. Yes, Boont Amber is indeed very good, and nice to see on tap, but you can get it quite easily in stores, and I would hope to see something a bit more hard to find.
