Good Luck with the new site and congratulations on the re-motivation! So far, it looks like we have eaten together at about 50% of your picks. Many more memorable meals to come in the New Year and reading about one-a-day will be a delight!

Love the clean layout of that site and the variety of eateries you've featured so far -- can't wait for the remainder 350+ worth of entries and glad there's another project to re-kindle your passion for foodblogging.

^pluto- You're welcome, it is going to be interesting to watch how restaurants adapt if people do reduce their discretionary spending. My hope is that the owners will adapt and continue business, but I fear that because of the difficulty in turning a profit during good times, many will not!

^susie- 365 places to eat under $8 would be a very helpful guide! I'm sure that it could be done, but I had a hard time coming up with a list of 365 places that I ate for any price! I have noticed that some of the nicer spots I have eaten at lately have been less crowded for dinner, I suspect that the casual spots will survive.

At first I thought your post said you were going to write about eating 365 days this year. I thought, hey I'm eating 365 days this year too. ;)

Yesterday I was on Third St and all the eateries like Joan's and Toast were hopping, crowds waiting on the sidewalk. The line around Pink's Hot Links wrapped around way into their parking lot. That was pretty interesting to see! I didn't get around to checking out Carney's. Would be interesting to do the 365 experiment for meals under $8 or so!

^pluto- That's a good question. I think that certainly people will be slowing down on their restaurant spending as personal budgets get tighter. I do think that people will still be going out to eat, either for convenience or lack of cooking ability at home. The restaurants that might do better are those that can feed someone a solid meal in the $10 range.

I do think that people will still go out for special meals, but may scale back on extras like desserts, appetizers and expensive bottles of wine.

I also count some of the $$ I spend on eating out as part entertainment, and try not to waste money when I can!
