Mariscos Chente

small local Mexican home cooking family place: very full on weekends, drink beer from plastic glasses, very slow service, bright lights, no ambiance, no tablecloth, fabulous fresh food !!!!! and cheap - $ 12 the plate, cheap beer
Mexico country restaurant in LA - who would have though
discovered by Howard Chesley - reviewed by the LA times (they totally missed the point)
ask for the special fish from Florida - looks like a pizza served
(do not have the shrimp cocktail - flavorless shrimp... the sauces and spices are it)
wow
we were entertained by a Argentinian birthday party with Tango guitar and Harmonica

must go

I've been meaning to try Uncle Moki's for a while, but it never seems worth it to battle traffic that way. @eatdrinknbmerry, try out Mariscos and tell me how it fares against Uncle Moki's!

Yes, the ceviche was good and a pretty good serving. I think we got the ceviche mixto, which was shrimp, octopus, and imitation crab.

I'm so glad that you wrote about this place! I drive past it all the time and have been wanting to try it for years. I didn't realize that they were closed and reopened. So the ceviche is worth ordering?
