Hi! So...this is Rachael...the, uh, main chick. :-)

Thanks for the review Louise!

I have to agree that the portions this go-round were for sure smaller than we usually offer (really). If you ever come again, you’ll see. As for the gaps in "service" and temperatures...um...well...if you noticed...the kitchen *was* up three flights of (steep!) stairs from where everyone was sitting...so, that sort of explains that. (And there is no “staff.” It’s us girls and volunteers. I'm not making excuses...I'm just pointing out some facts.) It just happens to be the luck of the draw on the house you came to...had you been at a dinner where the kitchen was closer to the dining area...well...it would have been easier to serve and for sure hotter. Trust me. We know. But that’s just part of the show! :-)

As for the other comments…since our food is all completely made from scratch with all local and organic ingredients – we really do think the price is absolutely worth it, too. In fact, we think it’s quite a good deal. It’s pretty delicious and creative and not what you would find anywhere else. So. There you go. Hope to see you all soon! xoxo Rachael

I haven't been to any of their other dinners, but I did feel that the portions at *this* dinner were quite small. Even after eating an extra raviolo and another piece of cake, I felt like I was ready for dinner, or at least a large snack, on the way home. One of the proprietors mentioned that there were originally going to be 3 ravioli on the plate, but because they were so time-consuming to make, they ended up making 2/person. I'm definitely a fan of vegetable heavy veg*n food, but IMO, you need to either serve bigger portions or more courses to justify ~$50/person... the food was great, but none if it was very filling.

Also, and I know this is mostly an issue with serving this many people out-doors, all at the same time, with a small staff, but most of the hot food wasn't really that hot by the time we got it, and the gaps between courses were large.

All that said, the food was very good, and I enjoyed myself, and given that it was BYO and no tip / service charge, I'd say it was probably more cost-effective than an equivalent meal at a restaurant.

I love CWK. Rachael and Suzy are amazing chefs and super nice women. They put a hell of a lot of work in to what they do and it shows.

I have been to two of their dinners and have never had a problem with portion size either. They even encouraged us to bring tupperware so we could take home leftovers (and we did). The price - for what we got - also seemed incredibly reasonable. These girls are professional chefs from high-end, well-known restaurants. You couldn't get a meal of fully organic totally home-made food or an experience like that for less where they have worked. And the food is scrumptious! I encourage everyone to check it out!

I keep getting email for these dinners, and everytime I look at the cost, I balk. Now looking at the portions, I balk again. Thanks for the insight! In the economically disparaging times, I wish 'em luck but.. don't think we'll ever make it.
