Thanks for the birthday wishes! It's not the flavor of foam that I have a problem with, but the texture. It's just too...foamy. It reminds me of spit or something gross.

Happy Birthday, Louise! I'm a little sad to hear about the dismay with foam. I still enjoy good flavored foam if it complements a dish well, even if it is "so 3 years ago." ;) The rib-eye looks delicious, and I love the story about the candle dessert.

I thought the cost was roughly in line with what you'd get at comparable places. I think some of the vegan options could have been a little more filling. I'm guessing they kept the quantities low to make the presentation look nicer - on a few of the dishes I would have settled for uglier but more filling.

Love the he said/she said, and happy birthday! That edible candle is one of the most creative bday treats I have seen at a restaurant. Price sounds very reasonable for the quality of food. We were going to try Michael Mina in SF, but went to Gary Danko instead. Might have to try out XIV.

The 8 course meal was 60 per person not including drinks. I thought that was a bit high considering most of the vegan plates.

It doesn't really sound as if they made much of an effort to accommodate the vegan palate. I would also like to have a rough idea of cost. Beautiful photos, though!
