Prana Café — Studio City
Monday, June 2, 2008 20:40 No CommentsA sister restaurant to the one on La Cienega, and situated beneath Romanov Restaurant, Prana Café is a welcome addition to Studio City (even if some of us miss the Albano’s Pizzeria place it supplanted).
Indoor seating is along the west wall, opposite the closed in but windowed kitchen, is reminiscent of the old Out Take [...]
Who knew? Bread pudding back by popular demand!
Thursday, October 4, 2007 20:29 6 CommentsDon’t know about you but I had to ask someone what the flag on the left of the flyer was for. Yes, I’m a typically geopolitically challenged American.
Most of us know the flag on the right as belonging to the United Kingdom. The one on the left is for England.
I’m also told [...]
Monster Garlic — a tale of Kitchen disaster!
Thursday, June 21, 2007 16:00 7 CommentsGentle readers, this is a cautionary tale…
I spotted some unusual garlic at Trader Joe’s the other day. I think it was called “Whole Cloves of Elephant Garlicâ€? or something like that…

Everyone’s Local: The Village Idiot
Wednesday, May 23, 2007 21:00 7 CommentsThe Village Idiot may have to be my new “local.”

Friday, February 16, 2007 22:34 No CommentsI’ve always hated scones, ever since I first bit into one. No matter how many times I tried them, they were always hard, dry, and tasteless. My intense disdain for scones ended, however, when I arrived in London and went to afternoon tea. I expected little finger sandwiches and was rather disappointed [...]
Ye Old King’s Head
Monday, October 30, 2006 21:03 5 CommentsHaving been to England, I have often marveled at how much different their cuisine is from anything I’ve had. Perhaps it due to the lack of spices used, which generates a much more natural flavor. Additionally, the ingredients don’t have much variation. Being someone who loves different styles of food as well [...]
Robin Hood
Thursday, August 17, 2006 12:37 1 CommentDan and I went to an overlooked British Pub in Sherman Oaks last night, on the corner of Woodman and Burbank Blvd called Robin Hood. There’s a small Friar Tuck shoppe in there, too, where you can get ceramic knick-knacks, buck-teeth and whatnot, but we didn’t check it out.
Dan heard about it from a homey [...]
Seeking Specialty Sausages for the Summer?
Wednesday, May 31, 2006 19:15 4 CommentsWith summertime weather taking us outside, it is time for firing up the grill outside!
Jonah got us going on this track with his positive report on TJ’s Carne Asada.
I’m definitely going to give that a try sometime this summer!
However, what if you and your guests are yearning for sausages? Where do you go [...]
