Australian Made foods have landed in LA!
Monday, May 14, 2007 15:58 13 CommentsA vibrant and familiar iconic symbol caught my eye at Gelsons, yesterday. It was a golden flying kangaroo inside a green triangle = Aussies! Turns out there were some new Aussie products to sample and I was feeling peckish.
Here’s a bit of background:
Many of you dear readers will already know that A.O.C. [...]
Tired old Food Fads in LA
Monday, May 7, 2007 13:16 19 CommentsBasil foam as created and invented by Ferran Adria at El Bulli, Spain.
Are you fed up with foam?
All truffle-oiled out?
Deathly sick of soft serve?
During the eighties in restaurants and kitchens everywhere (at least in Sydney), there was such a wholesale preoccupation with sun-dried tomatoes, placing them front and centre in virtually every [...]

Tuesday, January 30, 2007 11:36 6 CommentsSushizo
9824 National Blvd.
Los Angeles, CA
I got lost finding SushiZo. Something happens to me when I venture west of La Cienega, where streets make no sense, curve randomly, and change names without warning. National is tres guilty. But I clicked on my raw fish homing device, and eventually found my way.
Like many magnificent sushi joints, Zo [...]

Moi + a French Foodie Friend
The Viceroy hotel is a swanky little spot a stone’s throw from the Santa Monica beach, right on Ocean Avenue. It’s not really a famous LA hotspot, but it certainly has it’s historical significance. Inside this decadently decorated hotel [...]
Dreamy deliciousness at Gelato Bar

Village Gourmet has an array of wonderful imported goodies too.
Now we have a cosy little breakfast [...]

Friday, August 18, 2006 22:09 No CommentsOishii Eats didn’t have to twist my arm to meet her and friends at Silverlake Wine’s 2-year “Hump Day” Anniversary this past Wednesday. And I was so glad that after a full day of getting trained and ready for my new job, I went.
There’s nothing better than the sweet subtle taste of apples, pears, and [...]

Cobras & Matadors
Tuesday, December 6, 2005 19:11 15 CommentsTapas has been long reviled as nouvelle food that reeks of elitism: overpriced, undersized and smug. Tapas has gotten a bad rap. Far from being gauche, tapas has a rich history as Spanish dinner food. Fact is, I like the idea that my entire dinner is comprised of appetizers. The appetizer, at least in haute [...]
