Terroni: No Earthquakes, Please
Thursday, December 6, 2007 20:44 5 Comments
I’ve been pretty excited about Terroni opening, ever since I saw their menu. Authentic Cafe, which used to be in the same location, was a regular dinner/drinks place for me and the void was noticable once it was closed and the new restaurant was under construction.
Now it’s open, and I have wasted no time evaluating [...]
Will these restaurant ideas survive?
Thursday, August 9, 2007 22:13 4 CommentsI admire people who take the risk to run a restaurant. I hear it is a really tough business and most don’t make it. So when I see a new place (it may not really be that new but I just didn’t notice them until recently) I often like to give it a [...]
Osteria Mozza: Yeah, It’s Good
Saturday, July 21, 2007 21:24 5 CommentsSo my husband and I had absolutely no plans today. He spent the day at the computer, I spent the day cleaning house and exercising. Suddenly, the evening was almost upon us and we had absolutely nothing going on. He turned to me and said “Hey, what would you think about going and trying to [...]
Everyone’s Local: The Village Idiot
Wednesday, May 23, 2007 21:00 7 CommentsThe Village Idiot may have to be my new “local.”
When I was just out of college, I went to live in London on a work permit for a little while. One of the things I really loved about England, was how you always had a local. Every neighborhood had a pub or two or three [...]
Gonpachi - Kushi Soba
Thursday, May 10, 2007 21:36 8 CommentsI’ve recently returned from travels in Japan, and my husband and I are experiencing some serious nostalgia already. Accordingly, we’ve had to eat a lot of Japanese food in the past month. So one of the things on our “to do” list was to check out Gonpachi on La Cienega. Gonpachi is a true import [...]
C’est délicieux: The Little Next Door
Tuesday, March 20, 2007 11:28 7 CommentsI took a little jaunt downThird Street last weekend in order to do some necessary shopping and to try out the new annex to the Little Door, the Little Next Door. You don’t really need to read this whole review. All you need to know is this: it is like the French version of [...]
The Food Sucks, But Largo Rules
Saturday, March 3, 2007 14:34 4 CommentsLargo
432 Fairfax
Los Angeles, CA
Cross Street: Oakwood
Oh, beloved Largo - what a mixed bag you are. The tables are smashed side by side, the chairs are pretty damn uncomfortable, and the food - well, you’re lucky if it’s warm, isn’t leathery, and is actually what you ordered. Over the years, the less than stellar menu has [...]
Angeli Caffe: Evan, Will You Be My Valentine?
Friday, February 16, 2007 17:44 10 CommentsI’ve been meaning to write up Angeli for quite some time, and I figure it’s only appropriate that I finally do after my Valentine’s dinner there, since this is more of a love letter than a review.
I’m going to disclose from the beginning that Angeli is my favorite restaurant in Los Angeles, if not the [...]
