She said, he said about XIV

Tuesday, June 9, 2009 9:55 6 Comments

On my birthday this year, the BF treated me to dinner at a place we’ve been meaning to go to for a while: XIV. The last time we tried to dine there, we were unsuccessful because even though their site said they were open that Sunday night, they weren’t. This time, we made [...]

The Quesadilla Lady

Monday, June 1, 2009 18:15 5 Comments

The Quesadilla Lady is a lady with a cart, some fast hands, and the tastiest quesadilla I’ve ever had. She sets up her stand on the sidewalk on Echo Park Blvd., just a few steps south of Sunset. When I spotted her, there was already a handful of people crowded around her cart.
For [...]

Amazing Vegan & Omnivore Tasting Menu @ Joe’s

Monday, May 25, 2009 19:39 2 Comments

On a pleasant spring night this week, I had an amazing dinner at Joe’s Restaurant on a quiet corner on the usually busy Abbot Kinney Blvd. It was still early enough for sunlight to be shining in through the windows, illuminating the crisp, clean decor inside.
Our party, two omnivores and a vegan [...]

Chichen Itza

One of the benefits of my recent move to the east side is being closer to affordable, good food. Sorry westside, but other than a handful of favorites, my heart belongs to the east — or the SGV at least. Chichen Itza isn’t in the SGV, but it is a few miles south of me, [...]

Rahel is one restaurant in a row of tasty Ethiopian restaurants in Little Ethiopia on Fairfax. How does this restaurant stand out against the rest? It serves delicious vegan food.
The interior is dim but cozy and the servers are always ready to answer any questions. Upon entering, you get a choice of sitting at [...]

Stuff I Eat

Who knew that such good vegan food would be at the heart of downtown Inglewood? Not me! Until now. The BF had jury duty this week and found out about a little vegan restaurant after some googling, so we decided to meet there for lunch since I worked so close.
The place doesn’t look like [...]

Purgatory Pizza

Thursday, March 12, 2009 8:56 7 Comments

Purgatory Pizza is located in kind of a strange place. It’s on the outskirts of the main part of downtown LA, sitting at a mostly empty street by its lonesome self. If I hadn’t read about it beforehand (from Quarrygirl) I wouldn’t have known about it at all. The main reason we ate [...]

Good Burgers at O! Burger

Monday, February 9, 2009 0:21 7 Comments

What brought me to O! Burger the first time was the fact that they were a fast-food burger place nearby that had vegan burgers. Okay, okay, Johnny Rockets has vegan burgers too, but this place makes their own vegan patty (Johnny Rockets’ uses Boca Burger patties) as well as vegan shakes.

The BF and I [...]
